Editor’s note: Lucille was one of our founding members. She had many friends around the Wenatchee Valley and made a very positive impact on the community.

Lucille Dauenhauer-Anslow, a longtime Wenatchee resident and former co-owner of the D&D Roller Bowl and D&D Foods, passed away peacefully on June 7th, one month shy of her 105th birthday.

Lucille was born in July of 1921 in Yakima to parents Crawford B. "Bud" and Rose Louise (Berg) Cockrum. She graduated from Cowiche High School in 1939. In February 1941, she married Steve Dauenhauer, and they moved to Wenatchee. Together with Flo and Gen Dauenhauer, they owned and operated D&D Foods and the D&D Roller Bowl. They operated the Roller Bowl from 1949 to 1977.

Lucille lived a full life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great -grandmother. She loved to travel, going to destinations from Europe to Australia. She loved parties and was a wonderful hostess. And she was a lifelong Mariners fan.

Lucille was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for 86 years. She belonged to Catholic Daughters and was a founding member of the Lazarus Guild. She also served the parish by preparing flowers for the altar.

For many years, Lucille volunteered in the hospital gift shop and for the Red Cross blood draws. At the blood bank, she was known for her Spam sandwiches.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Lynne Dauenhauer of Snohomish; two grandsons, Sean and Kevin Dauenhauer; and two great-granddaughters, Sydney and Grasey.

Lucille was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Cockrum, who died on Iwo Jima during World War II. Her husband Steve passed away in 1985 and her daughter Linda in 1995. In 2010, she married Morris Anslow, who passed away in 2015.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Sept. 18 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
