Teri Ayala presents Mark Blakeslee with the gift basket he won in East Wenatchee Senior Living’s drawing.
We'd like to thank East Wenatchee Senior Living and Colonial Vista Senior Living for their continued sponsorship of our Western Day lunch. They have been supporting our lunch program for over five years by paying for the food we provide (roast beef with all the fixings) and in exchange, we allow them to set up a booth to talk to our lunch attendees. They also volunteer and help us serve lunch to the tables. This lunch is hugely popular and usually sells out in advance.

Lunch is still $5 for members

birthday lunch in the senior center social hall
Our birthday lunch on the last Friday of the month features free lunch for all members during their birthday month.
We are seeing unprecedented growth at the Senior Center for 2024. Last fall, our membership grew at a steady clip of 40-50 new members per month. In February, despite the short month, we gained 78 new members. And March appears to have continued our consistent trajectory with 48 new members. While our membership dropped nearly 50 percent during the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have now regained all of the lost numbers. At the rate we are now growing, our membership will increase by another 50 percent by the end of 2025.

Senior Center Lowers Cost of Lunch to $5

WENATCHEE – The Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center has lowered the price of its lunch program to $5 to increase awareness and community engagement.

The lunch program operates Tuesday through Friday and lunch is served promptly at noon in their social hall at 1312 Maple St., Wenatchee. To control costs, the center requires that participants RSVP at least one business day in advance.

“One of our long-standing commitments at the senior center is to provide an affordable, well-balanced lunch to our senior community,” said Dave Tosch, executive director. “There are many seniors in our community on fixed incomes who are at risk of food insecurity. We want to make sure that everyone, regardless age or income, has access to a hot meal four days a week.”

"We've been listening to feedback from our current and former lunch attendees. They've also asked us to include more fresh vegetables, like salads, and they want dessert," said Tosch. "We're making these changes, along with lowering our price from $7 to $5, to bring more people in to try our lunch program."
